Krabi Infomation
History :
Krabi is a southern province of Thailand which evidence
establishes as having a very ancient history. Glbeads,
stone tools and bone, drawings and paintings from
pre-historic times, have been found in great nu Pottery

to 37,000 years age. It is theroize Krabi is therefore
the most ancient settled community in Thailand, having
existed from pre-history to present.
The area is said to have been called formerly "Ban
Thai Samor" and was one of twelve towns
the monkey on its coat of arms. Subject to the rule
of Nakorn Sri Thammarat, who was himself vassal King
of Thailand, Krabi experienced a period of growth
at the beginning of the Rattanakosin period (c. when
Jao Praya Nakorn (Noy) ordered the erection of an
elephant stockade there for animals pending shipment
to Nakorn Sri Thammarat. Many people followed in his
tracks, whose habitations and hamlets numerous the
community was divided into three districts : Pakasai,
Klong Pon, and Pahklao. This arrabge persisted until
1872, when King Chulalongkorn was pleased to grant
Krabi the status of "Muang" or tow remained
subject to Nakorn, however, as the military chief
of Nakorn was appointed first "Jao Muang"
roughly equivalent to the word, governor of krabi.
Then in 1875 Krabi became an independent entity reporting
directly to Bangkok.
Present Day Administration :
Krabi Province is divided into 6 districts and 2
sub-districts. The 6 districts (or "Amphur"
as they are Thai) are : Muang (Krabi Town), Kao Panom,
Klong Tom, Plai Praba, Lanta, and AoLuk, The two sub-distrare
: Lahm tap and Nua Klong.
Location :
Krabi is 814 kms. From Bangkok down Route 4 (the
Petch Kasem Highway) It covers an area of 4,700 and
is bordered thus;
On the north :
by Phang-Nga and Surat Thani.
On the South : by
Trang and the Andaman Sea.
On the east :
by Trang and Nakorn Sri Thammarat.
On the west :
by Phang-Nga and the Andaman Sea.
Geography :
Krabi is distinguished by mountains, hills, and plains:
and there are more than 30 small islands off the The

Within the Muang district precincts flows the Krabi
River, which enters the sea at Tambon Pak Nam. Other
streams include: the Big Krabi (Krabi Yai) and the
Little Krabi (Krabi Noy) which have their sources
in the Panom Ben mountains, Krabi 's largest range
of mountains.
Weather
:
Krabi
is affected by the northwest monsoon and has only
tow seasons. The hot season starts in January ends
in April. The rainy season begins in May and lasts
till December. Average temperatures ronge between
16.9 to 37.3 degrees Celsuis. Average rainfall is
2,568.5 mm. yearly.

Railay
This
bay is Beautiful and at the same time very strange
to the eye because of its limestone karsts, pr mountains,
Its famous beaches include "Rai Lay Beach",
Them Pra Nang Beach (wher the lahm, or cave, is sacred
to local villagers), and Nam Mao: none of these ca
be reached by road. However, boats leave regularly
from the accessible part of Ao nang to take visitors
to them. There are also islands to visit as well:
Koh Kai, Koh Tap, Koh Mor, and KohPod, where there
are clean sandy beaches, clear water and schools of
colourful fishes in avundance perfect for diving,
snorkeling, or swimming. Boats to the islands May
be boarded at Ao Nang.
Ao Nang Infomation
Ao
Nang situated about 20 km. Krabi and 22 km. From the
new international touristic center dislocated along
the Andamane Sea coast, it is an ideal place for excursions
and explorations.
How
to get to Ao-Nang
Local
minibuses leave from outside the Seven Eleven store
on Maharaj Road in Krabi Town every 15 minutes, from
07.00 until 18:00 and go to Ao Nang, Noppharat Beach
and The Shell Cemetery Beach. Journeys take about
40 minutes and cost 20 Baht per person, each way.
After 6 pm. until 11:00 pm the cost will be to extra
charge 50 Baht per person, each way. The second choice
you can traveling to Ao nang by Longtails boat leave
from Krabi Town pier oppsite the Customs House, The
cost is 70 Baht per person each way and the journey
takes about 40 minutes. The longtails will run when
they have a minimum, passengers and leave at anytime
from 07.00 until 16.00 If you don't want to wait for
other passengers to numbers, you will be able to charter
the boat at a price agreed with the boatman.
Getting
around.
From Ao Nang bay there are more than 150 little islands,
sheer above the sea enriched with caves, beautiful
white sand shores, coral barrier and colored fish,
Among the most famous island you can find the Phi
Phi islands and his market "subs'paradish"
Jame's Bond island where the famous film "007"
was set, Koh samui, Rai Lay Beach at 2 km. From the
free climbers paradise, Sheer above the sea 3 km.
From Ao nang appears the Real Palace Thailandia King's
sea residence. Along the Ao Nang shore considered
National Park (without beach and deck-chairs), there
are more than 100 restaurants, different shopping
centers and, for those people very fond of diving
there is the possibility the typical longtail boat.

Ao-Nang
Beach
This
is the closest beach to Krabi town and is a large
bay with a long white sand beach. Behind it forested
hills create a peaceful atmosphere, It is not an isolated
paradise though and there is lots to de. With a good
choice of hotels and restaurants this is the place
to stay if you fancy a little bit of nightlife after
relaxing on the beach. Or perhaps take on of the many
Longlails out to any of the 83 islands that dot the
bay to go snorkeling over coral reefs or sunbathing
on deserted beaches.
